Civil Engineering from A to Z...

Sales, hire or maintenance: in the area of civil engineering, SCHOLZ GmbH with its head office in Treuen (Saxonia) is a competent partner. Founded in 1991 by Timo Scholz, the enterprise is still led by the owner. In accordance with their motto “everything from one source”, they offer reliable heavy load logistics as well as their sales and hire business of construction machines and equipment. The planning and letting of system casing as well as the letting, assembly and disassembly of cranes rounds off their extensive service spectrum. CONSULTATION and SERVICE are written in all caps at SCHOLZ. Thanks to its constant and solid growth, the enterprise employs 31 staff today. About 500 machines and devices are available for hire.


A well-considered decision

To find software, which offers comprehensive support to all its users in handling the extensive equipment and services on offer and creates transparency in the entire enterprise, was the real challenge. The decision wasn’t made lightly by founder Timo Scholz; he was aware of his responsibility: "We are only successful if we contribute to our customers’ success." That includes "to be better than our competition" in each area. It took one year for the intensive selection process before they finally decided for GSD Software with a good conscience. "The software is also a self-protection plan", says Mr. Scholz.
"We wanted a system that didn’t just cover specific areas, but also integrated smoothly with one another." He sees special value in the flexibility and adaptability of the system to be ready for new challenges in the future. "The only software provider who could fulfill these requirements in its entirety is GSD Software," summarises the managing director.

Which areas are supported?

The complex expirations of equipment become transparent with the ERPframe® module. For example, the parts list management helps to illustrate the comprehensive machine fittings as well as the attachments for renting appliances and the more economical alternatives to the original parts of the manufacturers.

The search for customer conditions for purchase and hire are also a thing of the past, just like the search through machine documents. The invoice audit not only monitors discount payment periods, but also offers the correct goods cost estimation considering all additional delivery costs. Credit limits prevent payment losses and with margin monitoring, even in the hectic seasons, painful errors are avoided, reports Timo Scholz.

Automatic postings via the FIBUframe® module help to avoid errors. FIBUframe® concentrates all economical information; it creates not only transparency with proceeds and costs, but also evaluates all inventory alterations. Almost real time posting of all proceeds and cost-relevant movements are the basis to ensure an overview of material liquidity at any time. The automated profit center and cost calculation creates freedom for department managers to dedicate themselves to their core business with the customers.

The customer expects fast and reliable service. For streamlined communication with immediately available information, the DOCUframe® module offers a digital machine document and the availability of all customer and supplier receipts in electronic form.

With DATAframe®, sales control is supported by an automated report system and reliable sales analysis.

Within the hire department, damage is documented and machines are supervised on-line. The efficiency of the hire fleet increases by the fact alone that workshop, logistics and parts supply work hand-in-hand.

The interaction of all modules provides the necessary transparency in the in-house procedures to support the gut feeling with real facts.


What is planned for the future?

"We now have absolute commercial transparency in our inventory - detailed, almost real time information at the push of a button and an accurate overview of costs and yields for any machine", concludes Timo Scholz. "Thus we have the basis to optimise the hire fleet. The consistent use of the collected information should serve the customer better during the consultation and help to choose which machine for his project." The next goal is, with the help of the GSD Workflow component, to achieve low hierarchies and quick decisions. He would like to optimise cost structures and expirations further and improve communication, in order to avoid errors before they happen.


Savings and more yield

"Staff in German enterprises use, on average, a third of their work time with searches, walking, speaking and inquiring. If one can save a third of that... I don’t want to go further than that just now", contemplates the managing director. Scholz summarises his goals: "Through process optimisation and further savings, which we create by using GSD software, we have more time available. We would like to use it to create more yield. With the help of the software, we want to grow economically. Whether the decision is for the further development into a branch network or the consistent development at the Treuen location is not certain. The software shows us the facts, but doesn’t constrict us from growing flexibly. In the past, our growth was strongly hindered because there simply was no transparency."

"To lead the enterprise commercially in such a way that I can see before something goes wrong and can intervene accordingly" was the objective of the managing director, who sees himself on the best path with GSD software. "We want to further improve our customer service and thus develop our reputation as the perfect partner for any kind of building project."
