Success Story: ROWO-FOOD GmbH, Stadelhofen

ROWO FOOD GmbH Counts on ERP System V

The best ERP system doesn’t bring success when it fails to realise tasks in the form needed by the user or fails to complete these tasks at all. Facing this very situation, the company, ROWO FOOD GmbH from Stadelhofen (Bavaria) found themselves in the need to search for a new software solution.
In 1999, the decision was made for the GSD Software ERP system, which was then implemented in January of 2000.

In business since 1992, this worldwide enterprise improves and produces foodstuffs for the food industry. In the middle of 1999, ROWO FOOD faced the task of putting a new ERP system into place. Until then, they had used a standard enterprise resource planning system, which covered just the basics from the sales offer up to the rendering of an invoice. Lot and portion administration, stock location administration, and consignment warehouses were maintained manually and supervised by means of auxiliary software.

It was the ambition of ROWO FOOD to copy their complete business processes into an ERP system and develop the system flexibly enough that later amendments of the enterprise procedures could be realised quickly within the software.


High Adaptability

Rainer Kaske (Marketing and Systems Consultant) was familiar with ROWO FOOD GmbH since 1998.
From various discussions and demonstrations by a variety of software providers in October 1999, the decision for ERP System V from the GSD software firm was made.
“Above all, GSD persuades through their highly flexible adaptability. Nobody else was able to do that, and even well-known software producers couldn’t meet the set budget,” remembers Robert Wolf, Managing Director of ROWO FOOD GmbH.

With GSD they had found an innovative software producer locally. The requirement to handle lot administration on stock shelf level and allow additional information to be added in a specific format (e.g., year of harvest, country of origin, minimum shelf life, quality, etc.) was of utmost importance. Also contracts and consignment warehouses had to be able to be administered.

With the clearly defined goals of the customer, the requirements could be met in streamlined processes and in the shortest time, which was possible only by the means of the releasable development environment, VARIOcontrol®, integrated in the GSD system. “The best side effect for the customer is the cost-effective implementation time,” says Rainer Kaske of GSD. Even today, the system continues to be optimised and repeatedly adapted to the operational environment and the previously existing isolated solutions are abolished.


DOCUframe®, the Complete Communications Platform

Likewise, the DOCUframe® module has been in use since April 2002. With this new DMS solution, now the complete e-mail, fax and written communications are handled and attached to the respective customer, supplier and process immediately. Calendar administration and internal communications are likewise handled through this DMS system. Also, all paperwork can be graphically archived and indexed according to GDPdU principles with DOCUframe®.
