Success Story: KABO-PLASTIC GmbH, Hartheim-Feldkirch

Precision and productivity

For over 40 years, KABO PLASTIC from Hartheim Feldkirch in Breisgau has been known as a reliable manufacturer of plastic injection moulding parts. The high-quality construction parts are manufactured from almost all the thermoplastics available on the market. These plastics have the benefit that they can be formed flexibly within a certain temperature range.

Flexibility is important for KABO PLASTICS in all regards: the enterprise produces goods precisely according to the specifications of its customers – such as in the automotive industry, mechanical engineering, medical and electro-technology and aviation, among others. It is clear to everyone that apart from absolute reliability, flexible function is demanded above everything else. For the different requirements of the various trades, tools are constructed according to drafts, data files or models, so every part can be produced as effectively as possible. For the construction, high performance software such as Pro/ENGINEER® and Moldflow® can be used. Apart from the expert technical consultation and various possibilities of the plastic rework the customer can also revert to KABO’s own testing and measuring laboratory.



DOCUframe® DOCUframe® organizes all enterprise processes

With so much flexibility in production, it is not surprising that KABO PLASTIC values efficiency within their business administration and looked for high performance software. Paperless communication between customers and staff makes it possible to organise all enterprise processes smoothly – from CAD data exchange to appointments and on to supply and cash flow. The enterprise counts on DOCUframe® from GSD Software.

The two Managing Directors, Markus and Michael Boll, explain why they decided on this solution: “We wanted an archiving software, which makes it possible for us to directly integrate all communication and be very adaptable.” Flexible production and different working processes put high demands on their staff. “DOCUframe® is used for all written communications – both internally and externally”, describes Boll. Therefore, everyone has the newest data available quickly and is always up to date, for example, to give account about the actual conditions of a project. The Managing Director praises the high flexibility of GSD software, “with strong links to the existing PPS system a lot of information can be prepared and represented according to our personal preferences. The clear overview – especially if several staff work on a project at the same time – is substantially better and much more real time than before. Also our internal bills for accompanying goods are produced by DOCUframe®.”



High flexibility and adaptability

Boll doesn’t want to hide the fact that “the tremendous adaptability” also means a lot of work at the beginning. GSD’s own DOCUcontrol® programming language that permits the user to make changes inexpensively is a good advantage – an option which is very useful to Boll. GSD Software offers the practical training needed, to acquaint yourself with the programming quickly. Boll stresses, “because of its high flexibility, we were able to adapt DOCUframe® to our needs very well.”

During the introduction phase, the entrepreneur recommends to begin first with some test users in order to ascertain the exact personal adjustment needs. “Some of what we wanted at the beginning was not used at all, other things that were missed turned out to be quite effective.” And then it is of course great if you can make the changes yourself. The enterprise is prepared for new or changing requirements at any time thanks to DOCUframe®. Managing director Boll wants to continue to adapt the software to the needs of his users – as “most of our staff would not want to be without DOCUframe® any more.”
